David Moffatt David Moffatt - M.Sc., Aud.(C) Audiologist

A Sydney native, David Moffatt obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from Dalhousie University in 1976.In 1979, he received his Master of Science Degree in Audiology.Before joining Otarion, David was employed with the Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech Clinic.He has worked at the Izaac Walton Killam Children's Hospital, the Sydney Community Health Centre (St. Rita's), and Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

David has been testing hearing, prescribing and fitting hearing aids, for over 21 years, longer than any other audiologist on Cape Breton Island. His outstanding clinical experience has included adult and pediatric diagnostic evaluation, hearing aid assessment and auditory evoked brain stem response testing as well as industrial sound level measurements and analysis. He has used this training and expertise to bring better hearing health care to his fellow Cape Bretoners. Daivd established and administrated the first infant hearing screening program on Cape Breton Island. He was a founding member of the Cape Breton Hearing Aid Bank, and has continued to volunteer his expertise to this charity since 1989. David has presented a research paper to the Canadian Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists, and has presented many workshops and presentations on hearing and hearing loss to various clubs, schools, and institutions. He has also written a hearing health column for the Cape Breton Post.

David is a member of many professional associations, including the Canadian Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists, the Private Practice Audiology Association of Canada, the Speech and Hearing Association of Nova Scotia, the Cape Breton branch of the Society of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Nova Scotians, the Canadian Academy of Audiologists, the American Audiology Society, the Canadian Professional Sales Association, the Canadian Federation of Independant Business, and the Cape Breton Board of Trade.

 
Dianne MacLean Dianne MacLean - B.A., BC-HIS, Hearing Instrument Specialist

Dianne MacLean is a Board-Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University College of Cape Breton. In 1990, she successfully completed the exam for competency in Hearing Instrument Sciences, given by the National Institute for Hearing Studies. She was awarded the Direct Sellers Salesperson License by the Province of Nova Scotia, and is a member of the Canadian Hearing Instrument Practioners Society and the Atlantic Canadian Hearing Aid Association. Dianne continues to upgrade her skills through continuing education and workshops. She enjoys community work and is currently involved with Scouts Canada, as a Beaver Leader. Her smiling face and professional manner create a warm and friendly atmosphere here at Otarion.

 
Glenn Basso Glenn Basso - B.B.A., BC-HIS, Hearing Instrument Specialist

Glenn Basso has received a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University College of Cape Breton. In addition to his university education he has obtained Board Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences and is a member of the Canadian Hearing Instrument Practitioners Society. Glenn is also a member of the Atlantic Canadian Hearing Aid Society (ACHAA). As a member of the ACHAA Glenn has acted as the administrator for Board Certification examinations. Glenn frequently attends workshops and seminars to update his skill and knowledge to better serve the hearing impaired.

 
Debra Moffatt Debra Moffatt - M.Sc., SLP.(C), Book-keeper

Debra Moffatt received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Mount St. Vincent in 1977. In 1980, she obtained a Master of Science Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Dalhousie. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists. Since joining the staff at Otarion, Debbie has continued her education, by completing courses in book keeping and accounting. She is responsible for managing the daily business accounts at Otarion.

Debbie has also developed the computer skills through hands on experience and self study, and has helped create a modern and efficient office atmosphere with the latest in computer technology. Her goal is to streamline office management in order to provide the best and most efficient customer service to all clients, as this is the cornerstone of Otarion's business profile.

Last, but not least, Debbie has extended her knowledge and training in hearing aid service and repair. These skills allow her to deal directly with Otarion's many customers, and it is this job that Debbie finds most rewarding.

 
Judy Doucette Judy Doucette

Judy Doucette received her Diploma with Honors in Business Administration from the University College of Cape Breton in 1981. She worked as a customer service representative at the Toronto Dominion and Bank of Nova Scotia for 12 years. In June 2000, she graduated, with honors, from the Nova Scotia Community College, with a certification of Educational Support Worker. Judy is an energetic volunteer, providing guidance to the youth in her community as a Girl Guide Leader. She looks forward to meeting and serving Otarion's many clients.
